Joey Barton signed for Newcastle United for £5.8 million in May 2007 after his controversial exit from Manchester City.

He is a forward-thinking midfield player who can score important goals. Joey is often in the news off the pitch due to his bad behaviour.

Even though he has had some problems in his personal life Joey remains a great footballer and appreciates the backing of his fans in helping him put his problems behind him.

Joey Barton has been at Newcastle for almost 3 years now, but his career there has yet to take off. Since he has been at Newcastle he has suffered 3 bad foot injuries that have limited his first team football to almost nothing.

Joey Barton has been jailed for 6 months as a result of a bust-up outside a McDonald’s restaurant on December 27 2007.

He spent new year in custody over the same incident.

If anyone’s bet on him to win player of the year, now’s the time to go and trade out at Betfair because we won’t be seeing much more of him this season.

Sadly Joey doesn’t seem to be able to stay out of trouble at the moment and he really needs to learn to control himself if he hopes to continue his football career. It’s hard to see which other clubs would take a chance on him now. Hopefully he will learn his lesson and be able to calm his temper down in future.

Keegan was paraded at St James’ Park today. He also confirmed that he would hold talks with Alan Shearer about a role at the club.

“If there is a role that Alan wants, and is right – that’s the key – then I would love to have him back here. I will definitely be speaking to him,” he said.

After an hour long hearing Joey Barton has been released from prison on bail.

He had previously been refused bail, but the decision was overturned. He is due back in court on January 16th charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray after an incident in Liverpool’s Church Street.
